Quote: Christopher Marlowe

consummatum est
[it is finished]

O lente, lente currite noctis equi
[slowly, slowly run, oh horses of the night]

homo fuge
[oh man, fly]

Three separate Latin snippets from Marlowe’s “ The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus.” Respectively, scene 4, line 74; scene 13, line 66; scene 13, line 77. In terms of reference, the first is Biblical, Christ’s remarks on the cross (this is therefore blasphemy), and the second is adapted from Ovid’s Amores. The last is all Marlowe.
