[13] First of all the gods she devised Love.
[14] Shining by night with a light not her own, wandering round the earth.

This is from one of the extant fragments of the early Greek philosopher Parmenides (an earl Monist); taken from Ancient Philosophy, Bard and Kaufmann 5th edition, Cornford translation.

Never mind what he’s actually talking about. The words are far better.
